Vertical labret or snakebites for new piercing?

not offering up photos or asking what would look better aesthetically. more so inquiring what the better piercing[s] over all is/are. for one, i currently have my ears stretched [evenly, of course], even piercings on each ear, and my septum done. i enjoy symmetry so a lip ring on the side would not be an option for me. i also don't want both the vertical labret and snakebites. i feel like the pros and cons of each are apparent, and wondering if anyone else had any insight or non-bias opinions. for one, i think snakebites are over done and that they also pose more of an issue for your teeth and gums [i don't use my body as a pincushion and as of now, i've never closed a piercing simply because i didn't like it anymore, therefore long term damage could be a factor.] i do wonder if the softer posts would make that easier on the gums and teeth or even eliminate the problem, as i've seen the rubbery ones, yet forget the actual name and brand. snakebites would have more options for jewelry to wear and seem like they wouldn't get in the way as much as the vertical labret would. i also want this done at a 16g [keeping with the same gauge as my septum. ocd, i'm sure.] not sure if that would cause the whole cheese wire effect or be able to be easily ripped. snakebites were originally what i wanted, however now i'm leaning more toward the vertical labret but am more or less torn. i've done my research and generally know what i'd be getting into with either and know plenty of people who could tell me what either piercing feels like on a day to day basis or how it effects them, but wondering what other's thoughts were generally.
